Seattle Public Theater is seeking a composer to join forces with a book writer for a commissioned musical set in the early 1900's about Bessie Coleman. The perfect composer is intuitive, collaborative, and timely. They should have a strong grasp of southern musical influences and enjoy pushing musical boundaries. 

This piece is a work in progress with the goal of a staged public reading/sing through scheduled for June 13, 2025.

There is a draft of the script with the beginnings of lyrics to some songs. We are ready to bring on a composer to find the style of the sound and to create with the writer a working draft.

Seattle Public Theater will provide a stipend.

Qualified folks of all identities are encouraged to reach out. The working schedule will be up to the composer/writer.
